This photobook celebrates 35 years of work by Swiss artist Jules Spinatsch, presenting the broad media spectrum of his work alongside a closer look at his artistic approach. Spinatsch transfers both his own and found visual material into publications, image series, photographic installations, and video works. Starting from a documentary approach — "from what is, not from what should be" — he explores the possibilities of photography, whether through direct observation of social events or through semi-automated recording processes that combine seemingly opposing principles such as chance and control into new forms of imagery.
