Mirror Mirror is a project by Swiss photographer and visual artist Léo Paschoud that explores our relationship to images, reflection, and involuntary staging through photographs sourced from second-hand selling platforms. His protocol is simple: he contacts people selling mirrors and asks them for a picture of the mirror on offer. The seemingly innocuous request carries a constraint, which is to photograph the mirror while avoiding, as much as possible, any reflection in the glass. Sellers respond with strategies of avoidance, sometimes skilful, sometimes absurd, and often marked by either ingenuity or awkwardness.
