This book traces Hyperion, the first typeface by Berthold Wolpe (1905–1989). Made in Germany in 1932, the typeface changed names several times, and for years its 1952 specimen was believed to mark its debut. But the discovery of earlier traces from 1936 — blackletter capitals under yet another name, Matthias Claudius — set off a chain of revisions and research documented here, one that eventually led to the typeface's digital revival.
