The final issue of Elk, a photocopied zine that launched in June 2003 and ran for thirty-four issues over fourteen years. It kept the same format throughout: 5.375 × 8 inch pages, saddle-stitched, roughly sixty pages, black-and-white interiors with a full-color cover. Images and text fragments pulled from books, underground periodicals, artworks, historical documents, letters, poems, spam emails, and ads are juxtaposed with associations that are sometimes obvious and more often riddle-like, using unrelated source material to break down the boundary between fine art and various underground cultures. After a five-year hiatus, it returns for its twentieth anniversary as a 274-page final issue.
