Anecdote gathers David Humphrey’s works on paper from the past decade. Each piece stands on its own, yet all of them grow out of a single ecology: Humphrey’s studio process. That process brings together wide-ranging image research, drawing rooted in observation and improvisation, and experiments with gesture and material. Disparate elements are organized into a single image, one that is at once associative in content and formally inventive.
