The work is set against a Lynchian landscape the pair experienced during a month spent in a bungalow built in the early 1900s in Echo Park, Los Angeles — owls heard from a paradise-like garden neighborhood, coyotes watched from a porch swing at dusk, an endless stream of passing cars. Yet an enchanting scene can turn unsettling at any moment. The two artists worked with far bolder color than before, using felt-tip pens and colored pencils to capture the contrast of light and shadow in an almost impulsive way.
