This book gathers Felix Gonzalez-Torres's (1957–1996) photostat series. Made in the pre-internet era at the height of the AIDS crisis, these works are lists of political, cultural, and historical references rendered in white serif text on black, set behind glass. They disrupt linear time and chronological causality, asking how we take in and prioritize information, and how we remember and forget. The book opens on two sides: one reproduces the photostats as objects encountered in a gallery, the other as writing, white text on a full black ground. Essays by poets Mónica de la Torre and Ann Lauterbach are included.
