bgimg
BGIMG

BGIMG combines an enlarged, edited photobook from architectural photographer Gyeongtae Kim’s “Seoul Panorama” series with the book of lecture plates by architect Jeong Hyeon that appeared in IMG. It mirrors IMG in size and shape but holds opposite content: where IMG is made only of text, BGIMG sets casually cropped photographs, page numbers, and lecture plates veiled in hazy dust within a strict layout. Just as one begins to wonder whether this is a book at all, a single page at its center reminds the reader that it is. The book translates scrolling a web page or pinch-zooming an image on a smartphone into print, yet refuses to let every page be consumed as an image cut. The sewn, stacked structure and the immediate sense of weight from countless light sheets of paper seem to refuse, too, remaining a formal experiment in independent publishing.

640 pages, 12.8 × 18.2 cm, Softcover, Korean, ISBN 9791195331260
