Artist Boma Pak recasts her long-running inquiry into how the world exists, and how we perceive and take part in it, as a fairy tale. The story begins right on the cover: a half-full glass of water tips over, and as light glints off the spilled droplets, we slip into a world of mysterious forms hidden beneath every surface. More than a hundred irregular shapes fill the pages. Some faintly recall a human eye, a wheel, an angel’s wing or a dried fig, yet none is easy to name. Neither circles nor triangles nor squares, they are singular, fleeting beings that resist simplification, forms that have been part of the world all along, even if we had forgotten how to see them. The day here is not measured in twenty-four hours but in shifting fields of color, lasting only as long as these unfamiliar beings take to appear and fade away.
